For When You Are Scared or Worried

Shame is usually close by when fear and worry overtake us. Most of us know enough about faith to know that we should have plenty of it so that fear and anxiety don’t rule us. While that is true, it is also true that there is no shame for those of us who belong to the Father. (Rom 8:1)

If you are struggling with fear and worry, know that there is grace for you. These are different times. We are bombarded in a way we have never been before in circumstances like this. Know that God is with you in the process and cling to these verses to stir yourself up and shake off the dread and fear.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]. Philippians 4:8 AMP

Habakkuk 3:19

The Lord God is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army]; He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet And makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility]. Habakkuk 3:19 AMP

Psalm 9:9-10

All who are oppressed may come to you as a
shelter in the time of trouble, a perfect hiding place.
May everyone who knows your mercy
keep putting their trust in you,
for they can count on you for help no matter what.
O Lord, you will never, no never, neglect those
who come to you. Psalm 9:9-10 TPT

Psalm 28:7-8

You are my strength and my shield from every danger. When I fully trust in you, help is on the way. I jump for joy and burst forth with ecstatic, passionate praise! I will sing songs of what you mean to me! You will be the inner strength of all your people, the mighty protector of all, the saving strength for all your anointed ones. Psalm 28:7-8 TPT

Psalm 46:1-3

God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble— more than enough and always available whenever I need you. So we will never fear even if every structure of support were to crumble away. We will not fear even when the earth quakes and shakes, moving mountains and casting them into the sea. For the raging roar of stormy winds and crashing waves cannot erode our faith in you. Psalm 46:1-3 TPT

Isaiah 26:3

Perfect, absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you. Isaiah 26:3 TPT

When You Are Frustrated With Other’s Reactions

I know many people are behaving in frustrating ways. I also think it is crazy that all of the toilet paper is gone.

Try to remember that fear is a powerful feeling, and it motivates all kinds of crazy. Try to be compassionate with genuinely terrified people. Not everyone lives with the hope and security we have. This is a great time to be a light to those people.

Also, try not to assume you know a person's motivations. When you see a woman who bought several pallets of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, don’t assume she is a crazed selfish person. Maybe she has a special needs child and elderly parents at home, and she is just trying to feel safe.

Matthew 5:7

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Matthew 5:7 ESV

Romans 5:8

But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 AMP

1 John 4:19

Our love for others is our grateful response to the love God first demonstrated to us. 1 John 4:19 TPT

When You Are Feeling Stir Crazy & Lonely

I DESPISE feeling trapped. So trust me when I say I get how frustrating social distancing and quarantine can be when you are all cooped up. Add in kids or a lack of family and socialization, and it can be tough.

This verse is a great reminder to try and make the most of the circumstances you are in. Buy a new devotional and take up journaling. Spend time practicing hearing from God.

Order some excellent food and treat yourself. Binge a show on Netflix. Play with your kids and spend some time being super present. Get outside! Go for walks. Call someone as it is unlikely that you are the only one struggling with the cabin fever.

Nehemiah 8:10

Then Ezra said to them, “Go [your way], eat the rich festival food, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.” Nehemiah 8:10 AMP

When You See People In Need

What better time than in a pandemic to show up and be the hands and feet of Christ. I encourage you to watch for opportunities to love and serve your neighbors.

Remember that there are people who are more vulnerable than others. Be mindful of the needs of the elderly. Watch out for kids home from school who may not have access to the hot breakfast and lunches they are missing.

Luke 10:9

Then heal the sick, and tell them all, ‘God’s kingdom realm has arrived and is now within your reach!’ Luke 10:9 TPT

Matthew 5:16

So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 TPT

Luke 3:10-11

The crowd kept asking him, “What then are we supposed to do?” John told them, “Give food to the hungry, clothe the poor, and bless the needy.” Luke 3:10-11 TPT

Galatians 6:2

Love empowers us to fulfill the law of the Anointed One as we carry each other’s troubles. Galatians 6:2 TPT

If You Have Symptoms or The Virus

Just another reminder that there is no shame, my friend. If you need to get checked out, do it. If you have the virus, stay positive. Speak life over yourself and your recovery. Claim wellness and good health as you heal.

Romans 8:1

So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One. Romans 8:1 TPT

Then we cried out, “Lord, help us! Rescue us!” And he did! God spoke the words “Be healed,” and we were healed, delivered from death’s door! Psalm 107:19-20 TPT
